Mao Map

Ms. Mao Map is a passionate human rights and Women’s rights defender with over 15 years of experience working in the Cambodian Human Rights and Development Association (ADHOC) in Cambodia. Mao Map has worked with multiple role and responsibilities with ADHOC since 2006 until present.
Ms. Mao Map was born in 04 April 1980 at Kampong Thom province, she married and has 3 children (1 son and 2 daughter). Currently, she living in Phnom Penh.
Professional wise, Ms. Mao Map has had a hand-on experience in conducted investigations, fact finding into violations of women’s rights and intervenes with local, provincial, national authorities and international on behalf of victims that seek assistance from ADHOC.
With respect to direct assistance of victims of human trafficking and labor exploitation to destination countries – in particular Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and China – ADHOC engages in their safe repatriation missions, in collaboration with NGO partners in destination countries, Cambodian embassies, relevant ministries, and other stakeholders. Once victims are safely returned to Cambodia, I assigned relevant staff to accompany victims to doctors for health treatments and assists them with the filing of complaints to the anti-trafficking police, and, if needed, the courts, in the process of which they are assigned one of ADHOC’s lawyers. I also supervision and appoint staff to accompany them back to their homes at the provinces, do case management from open until it closed. Moreover, if the cases link to the two jurisdiction, I try to cooperate with the NGOs and International NGOs to provide future service for victims. Some serious case I have to conduct the meeting to set up the strategies and plan for to make sure the clients get fully support especially safety and justice. Beside this, I provided direct support to lawyers, Case-managers, Investigator staff and Provincial-staffs. Be speakers in any radio talk show, roundtable, medias, consultation, meetings, conduct meeting local, provincial, national, and International level on Gender base violence, Human trafficking and Migrants issue. Moreover, Ms. Mao Map has had a hand-on experience in presenting a group of organization to present about the situation regarding to Access to Justice in Cambodia during Cambodia 2nd UPR cycle in United Nation in Geneva.
Academically, Mao Map holds a Bachelor of Laws, the Royal University of Law and Economics, Phnom Penh, Cambodia and a Bachelor of IT from Wanlan University, Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
