50 community members still continues to demand release Mr. Theng Saveoun and his two colleagues

Today May 20th 2023, is a second day which communities demanding release Mr. Theng Saveoun the president of Coalition of Cambodia’s Farmers Community (CCFC) and his two colleagues, Mr. Nhel Pheap and Thach Harch.
ADHOC today’s observations noted that, approximately 30 authorities was wearing both civil and uniform monitored and took a pictures of protesters and human rights monitoring organization staff.
At 2:05 PM at Ratanakiri provincial, the police has aware the letter of lawyers be not allowed, because it’s in the process of provincial prosecutors. So, the lawyer should communicate with the provincial prosecutors for this case. For they family, also still now allowed to meet since the morning.


Theng Saveoun, Nhel Pheap and Thach Harch was arrested on 17 of May with their other 14 staff members as well as community members who participated the team’s building and staff capacity building workshop in Ratanakiri province. After the questioning completed, the Kratie provincial police decided to arrest the three people and sent to Ratanakiri provincial police and the rest of people were allowed to go back home.
ADHOC and other civil society partners expressed its deeply concerned with their security and still closely monitor for this case.
