{"id":5590,"date":"2015-07-31T17:12:09","date_gmt":"2015-07-31T10:12:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/adhoccambodia.org\/?p=5590"},"modified":"2015-07-31T17:14:35","modified_gmt":"2015-07-31T10:14:35","slug":"ngos-approach-king-for-intervention","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.adhoccambodia.org\/km\/ngos-approach-king-for-intervention\/","title":{"rendered":"NGOs Approach King for Intervention"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Almost 30 associations and organizations endorsed an open letter addressed to King Norodom Sihamoni, urging him not to sign the proposed Law on Associations and Non-Governmental Organizations (LANGO), the official guarantor of constitutional rights and watchdog for the effective implementation of international human rights treaties, to which Cambodia is a party.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The controversial bill was already approved by lawmakers of the National Assembly (on 13 July 2015) and the Senate (24 July 2015) \u2013 both times by the attending ruling party\u2019s majority.
