The Women Program investigators in provinces are responsible for the investigation of violence against women and children. They monitor cases of domestic violence, rape<\/strong> and trafficking<\/strong>. Their activities include:<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Monitoring and investigating cases of domestic violence, sex trafficking and rape<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gathering information and feedback related to domestic violence, sex trafficking and rape<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Providing counseling and mediation to female victims and other parties in less severe cases of violence against women and children;<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Co-operating with police, local authorities and other concerned institutions in assisting the release and rescuing of victims following reports submitted to ADHOC, as well as the search for evidences. Follow-up activities are undertaken, to make sure the appropriate action is taken by both local police and court.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Supporting the victims by sending them to vocational center, to shelter or hospital. ADHOC assists victims who want to return to live with their family and assists victims to access medical treatment.<\/p>\n

In 2008, ADHOC investigated and intervened in 1,167 cases of violence against women and children.<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Case study<\/strong><\/p>\n

On March 1, 2008, a case of sex-trafficking occurred at Kbal Spean village, Poi Pet commune, O\u2019Chrov district, Banteay Mean Chey province. In that case, 3 young women were trailed to Thailand. The first victim was 17 years old, the second and the third were 19 years old. On March 4, 2008, the victims\u2019 mother lodged a complaint to ADHOC against T. Thor, female, aged 27, accusing her of being involved in the case. Based upon the receipt of complaint, ADHOC investigated and intervened towards the provincial court prosecutor and investigating judge, who latter on issued an arrest-warrant against the suspect on March 11, 2008. The suspect was put into pre-trial detention, pending the judgment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
